About Us

Ensuring quality health professional education through accreditation

Founded in 1995, the Accreditation Council of Canadian Physiotherapy Academic Programs (ACCPAP) was created to implement and oversee an accreditation process for physiotherapy education programs in Canada. ACCPAP incorporated in 2000. It celebrated its tenth anniversary and rebranded under the name of Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) in 2010.

PEAC currently administers two accreditation programs:

  1. Accreditation of Canadian entry-to-practice physiotherapy education programs.
  2. In conjunction with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), accreditation of occupational therapist assistant and physiotherapist assistant education programs (OTA & PTA EAP).

Land Acknowledgment

PEAC and our community work on the traditional, ceremonial, and unceded territories of Indigenous Peoples throughout Turtle Island. We offer our gratitude and respect to the generations who have stewarded these lands and acknowledge our responsibilities as uninvited guests.

We are dedicated to integrating the principles of truth and reconciliation into our work. This acknowledgement is a part of our ongoing commitment to listen, learn, and build stronger relationships with the Indigenous communities we serve as we work to foster greater equity for all.

Accountability is a vital part of this work. Should we cause harm through our words or actions, we invite you to connect with us. We promise to listen, learn, and take the necessary steps to improve and prevent future harm in our shared pursuit of inclusion and equity.
