Steps Towards Accreditation

Process for Initial Decision-Making

PEAC receives Letter of Intent for program to participate in accreditation review process.

Program prepares Self Study Report and submits to PEAC.

Peer Review Team (PRT) conducts Preliminary Review and submits Preliminary Report to the program outlining any additional requests for evidence.

Program responds to requests.

Peer Review Team conducts Site Review.

Peer Review Team submits PRT Report to PEAC.

Report sent for Program Review and Response.

Program responds to PRT Report.

PEAC prepares Confidential Accreditation Dossier and sends to Accreditation Committee.

Accreditation Committee awards accreditation status

Accreditation

1. Fully compliant
2. Partially Compliant
3. Probationary

Accreditation Full Compliant**

Step 1. No Progress Report required if all criteria deemed Fully Met**

Step 2. Accreditation review at end of six- year cycle

Accreditation Partially Compliant

Step 1. Submission of Progress Report to PEAC as required

Step 2. PEAC prepares confidential dossier

Step 3. Dossier sent to Accreditation Committee

Step 4. Accreditation Committee awards accreditation status

Accreditation Probationary

Step 1. Submission of Progress Report to PEAC as required

Step 2. PEAC prepares confidential dossier

Step 3. Dossier sent to Accreditation Committee

Step 4. Accreditation Committee awards accreditation status

Non-Accreditation

Program must wait one year before re-applying to initiate a full accreditation review

Deferral

Step 1. Further information required from program before accreditation decision made.

Step 2. Submission of information to PEAC as required.

Step 3. PEAC prepares confidential dossier.

Step 4. Dossier sent to Accreditation Committee

Step 5. Accreditation Committee awards accreditation status

**If the compliance of any individual criterion is deemed Partially Met, the process is the same as for Accreditation – Partially Compliant.
