Self Study Report

The Self Study Report (SSR) provides the opportunity for the program to outline its strengths and where strategies are underway to improve or maintain program quality. Submission of the SSR is the initial step in the accreditation process. It should provide a comprehensive overview of the program and evidence about the program’s compliance with the accreditation standards and criteria.

The SSR is used by the peer reviewers as they prepare and conduct the accreditation review. It is also used by members of the Accreditation Committee in the accreditation decision-making process.

Preliminary Review

The Peer Review Team (PRT) reviews the SSR and identifies any gaps in the evidence that could be filled by the program prior to the site review. A preliminary report is sent to the program requesting additional evidence if necessary.

Site Review

The peer reviewers conduct a site review to verify and validate the information submitted by the program in the SSR and the additional evidence provided in response to the preliminary report.

The site review takes place over three to five days and includes interviews with a various groups such as faculty, instructors, administrative support staff, students, graduates, preceptors, employers, upper administration (Department or School Director, Dean, Provost/Vice-Provost), and others depending on any areas identified within the SSR

The Peer Review Team

PEAC staff send the program the final report to give them the opportunity to review the information and provide a response to PEAC about any errors or omissions.

Accreditation Award

The Accreditation Committee reviews all the information related to the review (the SSR, the preliminary review and response, the final report, the program’s response to the final report) and makes an accreditation award decision.

Notice to Program

Following the Accreditation Committee meeting, notification of the program’s accreditation award is sent to the Program Director and to the Dean of the Faculty in which the program is located.

If any criteria are Partially Met or Not Met, the program is asked to submit a Progress Report responding to the requests outlined within the Accreditation Review and Status Report.

The due date for submission of the Progress Report is included in the report.
