Time Commitment
When you are appointed to a PRT for a program’s upcoming accreditation review, the work will span approximately six months, including initial training. The program’s Self Study Report is submitted four months prior to the site review.
Team members will find that the overall time spent is less with each review experience because each review helps you find systems that work to help you become more efficient. Typically more time is required to conduct a review of a weaker program than of a stronger program.
Preliminary Review:
Preparation – 3-4 full days over two months
The team conducts the preliminary review two months after report submission. This gives team members two months to review the report and identify any gaps in the evidence.
Site Review:
Preparation – 4-5 full days over two months
The site review is conducted two months later. Team members draft the final report prior to the site review and add details as the interviews are conducted. Team members also prepare interview questions prior to the site review designed to validate and clarify program information.
Site Review:
Execution– 4-5 days excluding travel
The team meets at the hotel by Sunday at 2:00 pm to prepare for the interviews, and conducts interviews Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. These days are long, and the team meets into the evening. Consensus is reached about level of compliance with each criterion each evening, and the final draft of the report is written collaboratively each evening. The team members return home Thursday morning.
Report Writing:
Completion– 2 days
The extent of post-review report writing depends on the progress made by the team during the site review. Typically the team is left only to format and proofread the report once they return home, but sometimes further discussion and consensus-building are required.
